Dr Joseph Sunny Kunnacherry is an Occupational Therapist from Kerala, India with an inspiring 20+ years of experience in the field of Paediatric and Adult Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation. His contributions to the field of Occupational Therapy have been significant and are widely recognized by his peers. He is the Honorary Secretary of All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (AIOTA) and President of Kerala Occupational Therapy Association (KOTA). He served as the Senior Occupational Therapist at the Government Mental Health Centre, Thrissur. His vision to foster independence and self-empowerment in all the individuals seeking Occupational Therapy treatment has led to the establishment of the Society for Occupational Therapy & Rehabilitation in the Government Mental Health Centre, Thrissur. This rehabilitation unit is committed to identifying and facilitating opportunities for the financial independence of all the patients in rehabilitation. He is the founder of Prayatna Centre for Child Development, Kochi and the Co-founder of Pebbles Rehab Centre, Chennai. His extensive career includes championing effective OT interventions at Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital and Mehta Children’s Hospital. Currently he is serving as the Director and Senior Occupational Therapist at Prayatna. Dr Joseph Sunny holds a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (Paediatrics) from SRM Medical College, Chennai, a PhD in Occupational Therapy, and is a certified Sensory Integration Therapist from the University of Southern California.
