Venue

National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), Trivandrum, India

Date

12th of September 2023

As part of imparting the importance and the role of the All India Occupational Therapists’ Associations (AIOTA), I was invited to the Occupational Therapy Department of National Institute of Speech and Hearing at Trivandrum on the 12th of September 2023. I had the wonderful opportunity to address the students and highlight the missions and vision of AIOTA and the numerous contributions it has made over the past several decades in helping the Occupational Therapy clinicians and its student community in their journey of achieving excellence both professionally and academically. Being one of the founding council member of the World Federation of Occupational Therapy, AIOTA has played an indispensable role in maintaining the standards of education and practice in the field of Occupational Therapy in India, enabling therapists to contribute successfully in their areas of practice not just in India but across International borders as well. I was happy to see the enthusiasm and intention of both the students and faculty of NISH in participating in the much awaited OTICON 2024, which is the 61st Annual National Conference of AIOTA (and is to be hosted by the Kerala branch of AIOTA), that is set to be held in Kochi, Kerala from the 19th to the 21st of January 2024. The OTICON is one among the most important platforms for clinicians, researchers and students both from India and abroad to present upon the most recent and innovative developments in the field of Occupational Therapy.
I thank the Executive Director of NISH Dr. Suja Kunnath, Associate Professor and Head of Department of OT and Vice Principal, Dr Vinith Dani Jose and Dr. Joseph Bose, assistant professor, NISH for having given me the wonderful opportunity to visit the NISH campus and interact with the students and faculty.
